Differences you will notice
Tokens are bound to the device
A token names one user, one device and one room, lasts at most 15 minutes, and does not work if copied to another device. The SDK renews it through your backend.
End-to-end encryption is on by default
Every room is end-to-end encrypted unless your backend turns it off for that room, with a reason that is logged.
Prepaid, not invoiced
Buy credit and use it, with optional auto top-up and spend alerts. Charges are cost-plus and capped 1¢ per 1,000 minutes under Agora's list price at every tier.
Recording has no fee
Recording is done by a room agent you run, billed as a subscriber for the bytes it receives. A hosted recorder is in development.
Calls and broadcast on one protocol
The stream that carries a call also reaches a large audience, without moving to a second product or latency level.

Self-host relays anywhere and pay only the 1¢/GiB platform fee.

You run the relays and pay your own cloud costs. MOQOM meters bandwidth only, at $0.05/GiB. Agora’s cheapest rate works out to about $0.16/GiB (720p–1080p to a broadcast audience), so the fee is about 69% under it, about 90% under at 360p and 97% for audio. No extra fee for recording or other features, self-hosted or not.

These prices are built on standard cloud list rates, before any partner pricing; we are negotiating partner rates with Google Cloud, Cloudflare and AWS. Price your real Agora usage
Once you have an account, the console's Migrate from Agora tab can read your Agora project list and the last 90 days of usage by tier, and price those minutes on MOQOM beside Agora's list. It uses an Agora Customer ID and Secret for that one request and does not store them. Create a new Secret for it and delete it afterwards.
Check these before you switch
- Fewer platforms today. iOS and macOS are available. Web, Android and Desktop are in progress, coming Q4 2026, possibly October. The OBS plugin is scoped.
- No independent audit yet.
- Load test pending. Every number above is from the lab; the load test is scheduled for October 2026.
- The protocol is still a draft. Media over QUIC Transport is an IETF Internet-Draft, not yet an RFC. MOQOM targets draft-19; the IETF published draft-22 on 1 Oct 2026.
- End-to-end encryption is on by default in every room, on Apple platforms today.
